ORIGINAL
 INSPIRATION
These works by Alexander Girard can be found on the websites of Herman Miller, Maharam, and Girard Studio.
PERSONAL INTERPRETATION
Directly inspired by the motifs in Girard's textiles; I emulated his work in these designs.
BEFORE
WASHING
When first woven, the textile maintains the aspect ratio of the digital design.
AFTER
 WASHING
Once washed, wool yarns shrink for a felted effect, while cotton yarns do not shrink. This creates texture and alters fabric dimensions.
All patterns were designed using Lectra Kaledo Print and converted for weaving using EAT DesignScope.

Joyful and geometric, Alexander Girard's textile designs and approach to creation inspire me to use simplicity to my advantage, and to let symmetry tell the story on its own.
